Education is the most superior achievement among those made by man in response to the challenges presented by the nature and its organized form helps in analyzing as well as balancing the social environment where he operates.
Established on 9 July 1971, M L Arya College has been successfully playing its vital role in this context since its inception. Late Dr. Akshay Lal Sah, HOD of Physics Dept. at Ranchi University and former Pro Vice Chancellor of Patna University, was the first to come up with this noble idea of establishing a higher level education institution in this backward region. Inspired by his thoughts, Late Munshi Lal Arya, a renowned businessman, social worker & politician of Kasba, started the initiative of constructing the college and thus the college came into existence.
Kasba is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from the district headquarters along Purnea � Jogbani road. The establishment of a college in this area was a unique event. The college started functioning after getting affiliation to the Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga with Faculty of Arts as its first department. Later, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Commerce were also established. At present, it is a constituent unit of Purnea University, Kasba, Purnia and is offering honours (graduate) level studies in 18 subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce under the guidance of subject matter experts in every field.
The college is named after Late Munshi Lal Arya with the objective of honoring him as the founder and chief patron, and its campus is named Akshay Nagar.
